Statement on the 49th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade

Women’s Health Specialists (cawhs.org) stands in support of abortion without apology.
Our historic roots date back to 1975, with the opening of the first woman-controlled reproductive health clinic to provide comprehensive reproductive health care in far northern California — including abortion. For 47 years, braving four fire-bombings, butyric acid attacks, vandalism and weekly domestic terrorism directed at our clients, staff and volunteers, our clinics have continued to provide non-judgmental, compassionate and supportive reproductive health care to the public.
Today, after nearly half a century of federal protection, our reproductive rights are in grave danger. Though the leadership of our great state of California is committed to supporting reproductive rights, women in at least half of the United States are poised to lose all access to abortion should Roe v. Wade fall.
Women’s Health Specialists supports women throughout the country whose rights are being systematically stripped away, and we pledge to go above and beyond to preserve and restore full reproductive justice to women throughout the United States of America. On this day, as the future of abortion access hangs in the balance, we rededicate our mission to protect all women’s right to comprehensive reproductive health care — including
abortion.
