Q: Do I have to pay any fees?
A: No, adoption is free to you.

Q: What if I have expenses I need help with?
A: Costs such as pregnancy related expenses can be paid for by the adoptive parents.

Q: Does the father of the baby have to agree?
A: All birth fathers have rights to consent to or challenge an adoption plan. It depends on what the nature of your relationship is and his involvement in the pregnancy. If you are married to the father than you must have his consent for the adoption. If you don't know who the father is,  you can do the adoption alone.

Q: What if the adoptive parents decide after they take the baby home that they don't want contact with me?
A: It is true that legally they have no obligation to maintain contact with you even if it was agreed upon. That is why it is so important that you trust the program you are working with to screen their families. It is also why it can be very helpful to meet the adoptive parents yourself.

Q: When during the pregnancy can I choose adoption?
A: You can choose to do an adoption at any point along the way. We recommend that you give yourself at least a couple of months, but we have worked with women who called us from the hospital after giving birth.

Q: Do I have to have contact with the adopting parents?
A: No, you do not have to have contact with the adopting parents or the baby after the birth.

Q: Can I keep my pregnancy and the adoption confidential?
A: Yes, we will do whatever possible to assure that your confidentially is maintained throughout the adoption process.
