Community Involvement
We at Women’s Health Specialists believe that it is crucial for us to be active in our communities and have a broader impact on women’s lives beyond the services we provide in our clinics. Since our inception, we have understood the importance of being a resource to our communities.

We relied upon our women’s health expertise to develop presentations on a variety of women’s health issues, based upon the questions women raised. Our highly utilized Speaker’s Bureau is designed to provide information to our communities through speaking engagements. During 2004 staff traveled to 65 different speaking engagements.

Since the year 2000, we have produced a call-in radio show It's Your Body on KZFR Public Radio, in the northern California valley. The radio show is a community forum for health education and discussion about important political issues of the day.

Community events that we are involved in include health, information, employment, cultural, and educational fairs. We have developed information for our tables while attending and sponsoring community events.

We have developed Survival Guides, which are a resource aimed for high schools. The guides have information about community resources such as: after school activities, places to volunteer, health care, mental health care, hotlines, etc. They are wallet sized and a favorite item to people visiting our tables, and are distributed to high schools.

In addition, our new service cards include information on all of our services for women and men. The service guides are available in English, Spanish, and Hmong.
