Let’s move forward from the party to build the network of support for woman-controlled health care and the women we serve. Please pass along this response card to your friends and fill it out, if you haven’t already. Let’s work together during the tough times ahead.
During the last 30 years, Women's Health Specialists has made a remarkable contribution to Chico and Northern California. When asked what accomplishment she is most proud of, Heckert didn't hesitate. I'm proud that while we persevered in the face of opposition and grew to include five clinics, the directors and staff have never lost sight of our mission and unique self-help approach.
At first glance the clinic looks just like a doctor's office, but it is far from typical. This is exactly the type of atmosphere the clinic strives to achieve, Heckert said. Our goal is to change those institutions so women leave their healthcare setting with more information that when they'd arrived, with more choices than when they'd arrived, and feeling positive about themselves and their bodies. "I think that by showing your DVD of the history and fight for women's rights and freedom of choice, gave these young women a sense that the struggle and sacrifice made by sisters before them is of great meaning." ~Sheryl Wells
